Below is a list of commonly asked questions. Questions needing more involved
answers are to the left. If you have further questions, please
feel free to call us at (415) 863-5992 or E-MAIL
them to us.
How much does Alert & Oriented charge for transcription?
Our basic rate is $2.25 per minute of recorded dictation time for a 48-hour
turnaround time.
How does this system simplify my billing?
Our clients' invoices resemble a bill for long-distance services (the
digital dictation system's computer logs each report to the 1/100th of
a minute of recorded time).
How can I determine the cost of any report?
Simply refer to the accompanying log. Multiply the length of the report
by the basic rate being charged to calculate the cost of the report.
What about headers? Footers? Half lines? Do they get billed separately?
Our "value-added formatting" allows clients to produce more easily
readable reports that do not depend on squeezing as many words as possible
onto each page or line.
Why does A&O use the minute of recorded dictation time instead of the
line as its basic unit of measurement?
By using this type of billing, we offer a rate structure which is
fair to the client, fair to the medical transcriptionist, and fair to
management. As a result of billing by the minute of recorded dictation
time, the age-old industry battle over line counts, page counts, font
sizes or any other type of variable in billing and/or formatting becomes
a non-issue.
Everyone else charges by the line? Why should I go with a service that
charges by the minute?
Because A&O provides an easy way to cut costs and keep a tight eye on
the bottom line: We offer our clients a 5% "Early Bird" discount if their
payment reaches us by the 10th day of the billing month.
